Talhoffer Poleaxe Waster

Starting at: £60.00

The poleaxe is a long polearm with a haft made from white ash and with a walnut head, making it light enough to wield for beginners yet giving it the strength and durability required for intense combat training. The large "sweet spot" or striking surface means that the force of impacts will be dissipated across a large surface area, making it a very safe tool to use. This poleaxe is very similar to the polearms depicted in the treatises by Hans Talhoffer.

The blades are all designed with historical blade profiles in mind, and are constructed with distal taper. This means that the weapons have a more correct sword-like weight and balance, and that the handling characteristics are similar to historical swords. The weapons come unstained and unvarnished; we advise that upon receipt of the item, it should be rubbed with linseed oil or another equivalent solution.

Paul Bennett is a well-known name in both the HEMA community and the living history community. He works as a carpenter, and as a side interest he produces these top quality wooden training weapons with which people may practice the European martial arts, or they can even be used for training for historical re-enactment.
